What is Living in France Really Like?

Many people dream of moving to France and living the dream.  Television programmes have popularised the idea of a place in the sun.  While the English climate and current economic difficulties have only served to increase the demand for a new way of life, it is important to realise there is a lot more to Life in France than dreams and sunshine.  The language barrier can be a huge obstacle and this, together with the inability to integrate, are often cited as reasons why people return to the UK after a few years of the Living in France.  Dealing with the French bureaucracy can be another daunting prospect for many people.  The message is clear, before taking the plunge into French Life, do your research and make every effort to learn the language.
