Baptism by Immersion

Many Christian churches practice infant baptism, where infants are sprinkled with water. In mormon doctrine, though, it is taught that infant baptism is a sin because all children are pure before the Lord. It is only after the age of accountability, which mormon doctrine says is age eight, that children should be baptized. Mormons baptize by immersion, as Jesus himself was the example of when John the Baptist baptized Him in the River Jordan. The symbolism of baptism by immersion includes the death of the Savior and His burial, when one is brought under the water, as well as His resurrection, when one is brought back up out of the water.
