There is plenty going on to keep everyone entertained when visiting Bristol.
When you think the name ‘Bristol’ originates from the 11th century name of Brycgstow meaning ‘place at the bridge’ it is amazing that the city continues to live up to this very early moniker. To this very day, you will find the city of Bristol enjoying pride of place beside the magnificent Clifton Suspension Bridge.
The Clifton Suspension Bridge is probably one of the first memorable sights that welcome visitors to the city…and an impressive welcome it is. Designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel and completed in 1864, it spans 700 feet and sits astride the River Avon 200 feet in the air.
Other popular sights in Bristol include the Georgian street shaped like a crescent claimed to be the longest in the world and the Cheddar Caves.
Over at the newly presented Harbourside, there is no need to drive out the car you hired today, thanks to a wealth of family attractions which include the ‘At-Bristol’ activity park, Bristol Zoo and Gardens and the IMAX theatre. When looking for some grown up attractions, there is plenty available such as the Museum of Bristol, the Bristol Old Vic, the Royal West of England Academy, comedy clubs, nightclubs, pubs galore and much more besides all within close proximity of the Harbour.
